AnkiBoss is now Medusa, the add-on is for the MCAT too, and MedusaGPT can quiz you, read your stats and change your cards

• FeatureAnkiBoss is now Medusa. The add-on is called Medusa - Medical and MCAT Term Explanations, and the tutor is MedusaGPT. Your account, plan and settings carry over.
• ImprovementA new look: Medusa's green and typeface in the Dashboard, MedusaGPT, lessons, the term popup and sign-in, and every window follows Anki's light or night mode.
• ImprovementSettings is rebuilt in four tabs (Highlighting, Popups, Anki & Browse, Account), with a live preview of the highlight.
• FeatureTerms for the MCAT: choose Premed in your account settings on medusaprep.com and about 2,000 terms on your cards (chemistry, physics, biology, biochemistry, and psychology and sociology) are explained for the exam. • FeatureFind cards for missed questions takes UWorld MCAT question IDs, and finds the AnKing MCAT cards that carry them.
• FeatureMedusa filters adds an MCAT Core group for the Medusa MCAT deck. Lessons and Find cards for a document work on that deck's notes, and the cards that Find cards for a document makes for a premed account carry their MCAT category tag.
• FeatureThe free MCAT deck keeps itself up to date: new and corrected cards arrive in place after Anki syncs, with your reviews, your own edits and My Notes kept, and a notice with See changes and Undo. Settings can make it ask first, or leave it to Medusa → Check for MCAT deck updates.
• FeatureEvery card of the free MCAT deck has Suggest a change and Add a picture on its back. In Anki on a computer a small window opens right there; on a phone, the same form opens on the website. A person reviews every suggestion, and the approved ones reach your deck with its next update.
• ImprovementLook up a term, Suggest a term, Help and two Settings boxes use MCAT wording on a premed account.
• FeatureQuiz mode, in the MedusaGPT panel's ⋯ menu: type your answer on a card's front, and the tutor says whether you had it and suggests a grade. After you flip the card, you press the grade yourself.
• FeatureExplain simply: a new button on a card's back, in Ask about this question and in the tutor's chat, for the same idea in plain words.
• FeatureHow am I doing?: the tutor reads your last 30 days, worked out on your computer (retention, your weakest and strongest categories, your most-missed cards, what's due), and says what to study next.
• FeatureAsk the tutor to unsuspend, suspend, bury, flag, tag, move or reschedule cards, or to make a filtered deck, for this card, a topic or a category from your stats. You see how many cards it changes, and nothing changes until you press Apply.
• FeatureMake cards from this: the tutor writes new cards from what it just explained. Tick the ones you want, pick a deck, and press Add.
• FeatureMedusaGPT in Browse and Search my cards: in Browse, right-click a card and choose Ask MedusaGPT about this card, press the MedusaGPT button at the end of the search bar, or press Ctrl+Shift+K; in Search my cards, press Ask MedusaGPT. The panel opens beside the card you found, and a card's chat follows it between windows.
• ImprovementEdit → Undo reverses each change, and Recent changes, at the bottom of the MedusaGPT panel's ⋯ menu, can revert it later.
• ImprovementThe Medusa menu has one MedusaGPT item, the panel. The website chat opens from the panel's Whiteboard button, and Recent Medusa edits moved to Medusa → Settings… → Anki & Browse.
• FeaturePortuguese menus and dialogs: the Medusa menu and Help, sign-in, Settings, the Dashboard, the credits notice and What's New are in Brazilian Portuguese when Anki or your account is in Portuguese. Your term language doesn't change unless you choose it.
• ImprovementBrowse filters have a No yield box: a piece can match cards with no yield tag, alone or beside the yield levels you tick.

Ask AnkiBossGPT without leaving the card

• ImprovementRight-click a card while you review and choose Ask AnkiBossGPT about this card: the AnkiBossGPT panel opens beside the card instead of the website. Select a word or phrase on the card first, and the panel opens with Explain "that phrase" in the context of this card already in the box. Press Enter to send it, or change it first.

Every feature, one click away

• ImprovementAnkiBoss → Feature guide on ankiboss.com opens the Help page, which now lists every feature and where to find it. Help has an Open the feature guide button too.
• FixHelp no longer says Lessons is in the top bar (it's in the AnkiBoss menu). It now covers AnkiBossGPT and AnkiBoss filters, shows the shortcuts with Cmd on a Mac, and is wide enough to fit on a laptop screen.

The tutor is AnkiBossGPT

• ImprovementThe tutor is now called AnkiBossGPT: in Anki's top bar, the panel's title, the AnkiBoss menu, the right-click menus (Ask AnkiBossGPT about this card) and Settings.

Tutor moves to Anki's top bar

• FixTutor is now a link in Anki's top bar, after Search Cards. As a button beside Edit it pushed Show Answer and the grade buttons off centre; the bottom bar is back to Anki's own.
• ImprovementLessons is no longer in Anki's top bar. Open it from the AnkiBoss menu.

The tutor beside your card

• FeatureThe tutor panel: press Ctrl+Shift+T (or Tutor in the bottom bar) while you review to ask about the card on screen. A Hint on its front; Why?, Mechanism, How is this tested? and a Mnemonic on its back. Nothing is sent until you ask.
• FeatureIs this card right? and Save to my card: the tutor can suggest a change to a card. You see the change first and nothing changes until you press Apply; Edit > Undo and Recent AnkiBoss edits put it back.
• FeatureRelated cards: ask for the AnKing cards on a topic and open them in Browse. Ask about this in a term's popup asks the tutor about that term on the card.

Card swap leaves you with fewer cards

• ImprovementSwap offers a card of yours only when AnKing clearly covers all of it, and ticks only the fewest AnKing cards that cover it, the ones you already study first, and only when that adds at most three cards (Cards each swap may add, under the deck pickers). Matches of cards AnKing has only part of start unticked.
• FeatureThe card swap window and the Swap box say what a swap does to your reviews, for example "Your reviews: 22 fewer cards".
• FeatureTick AnKing yield levels and Steps so a swap unsuspends only those cards. AnKing cards you already study always count.

Highlights for terms with superscripts, subscripts and underlined letters

• FixTerms written with a superscript, a subscript or an underlined first letter are highlighted now, such as Sialyl-Lewis X, Ca2+, PaO2 and the underlined first letters of mnemonics.

Swap your own cards for AnKing's

• FeatureSwap my cards for AnKing (AnkiBoss menu, or select your cards in Browse and right-click): AnkiBoss compares the cards you made yourself with AnKing, or any deck, and sorts them into what AnKing has all of, part of, or none of, with the AnKing cards that test the same facts.
• FeatureSwap suspends the cards of yours you tick and unsuspends the AnKing cards you tick, in one step that Edit → Undo reverses, and tags both sides. Nothing is deleted. It never uses credits.

Medical terms in Brazilian Portuguese

• FeatureTerm language: Português (Brasil). AnkiBoss highlights the Portuguese terms on your cards (insuficiência cardíaca, IAM, fratura) and explains them in Portuguese, from its own Portuguese dictionary. Set it in the add-on's Settings or on ankiboss.com under Account, Preferences.
• FeatureIn Portuguese, the popup's buttons, Search Medical Terms and Submit New Term are in Portuguese too, and terms you submit or report go to the Portuguese dictionary.
• ImprovementCards are scanned for terms about 20 times faster.

Cards for the questions you missed

• FeatureFind cards for missed questions (AnkiBoss menu). Paste UWorld question IDs to get the AnKing cards tagged for them, free and without anything leaving your computer, or paste any question with its explanation to find the cards that teach it.
• FeatureFind cards for a document now lists the facts none of your cards test, and can make cards for them into a new deck after showing the price.
• FeaturePopups can open on click only (Settings, Open popups).
• ImprovementCMV, CD4, HIV, IgG, IL-2, TNF-α and hundreds more terms are underlined now, and a term with no explanation yet is left plain.
• FixSigning in, Report, Ignore and Submit no longer freeze Anki. Paying accounts are no longer blurred after 15 lookups when Anki starts offline.
• FixCard search no longer sticks on Reading your cards, and Escape closes it cleanly. Escape on a lesson's card popover closes just the popover.
• FixReviews done on your phone count once they sync, two Anki profiles on one account add up, and the dashboard's retention target is your preset's.

Filter Browse to the cards you want

• FeatureFilter groups at the top of Browse's sidebar. Tick a group, or some of its pieces, and every tag you click shows only the cards that match: a video's high-yield cards, say, or its cards tagged for Step 1 and Step 2. Decks with AnKing's tags start with one group; right-click to make your own.
• FeatureOptional check boxes beside the tags in Browse (turn them on in AnkiBoss Settings). Tick several videos to see their cards together, or untick one to leave it out. Ctrl+tick adds a tag with AND.

Find the lesson for any video

• FeatureA new Lessons window (Lessons in Anki's top bar) puts your lessons under the same tags as Browse: #AK_Step1_v12 › #Bootcamp › Dermatology › … › the video. Type a video's name to find its lesson. A video with no lesson yet is under All tags, where Get lesson… shows the price before anything is charged.
• FeatureIn Browse, right-click a tag in the sidebar and choose AnkiBoss lesson for this tag.
• ImprovementIn the results of Find cards for a document, click a card and it shows on the right, as it looks in review.
• ImprovementA clearer AnkiBoss menu: items grouped by what you're doing, each with a tooltip, a Help page, and Sign in / Sign out at the bottom. Lessons and Search Cards are in Anki's top bar too (Settings can hide them).

Dashboard menus fixed

• FixThe dashboard's Period and Categories menus open as a normal list again, instead of a blank white box that kept growing.

See a card as you search

• ImprovementIn Search my cards, click a result and the card shows on the right, as it looks in review.
• ImprovementThe Tag button in Search my cards and in a card match's results asks what to call the tag. A card match can still add a sub-tag for each of the document's topics.

Search your cards, match them to a lecture

• FeatureCard Search: AnkiBoss → Search my cards… (Ctrl+Shift+F) finds your cards from a topic, a question, a patient or a misspelling, in any deck. Results appear as you type; press Enter for a smart search that ranks the best matches first.
• FeatureIn Anki's Browse window, start a search with ? to get the same smart ranking there.
• FeatureSmart searches are free every day and never use credits: 20 a day on Free, 500 on Basic, unlimited on Standard and Pro.
• FeatureCard Match: AnkiBoss → Find cards for a document… reads a PDF, PowerPoint, Word, text or Markdown file and finds the cards in your decks that match it, grouped by the document's topics, best matches first. It works on any deck.
• FeatureFrom the results, open the cards in Browse, tag them by topic, build a filtered deck or unsuspend them. Each match is saved to your account at ankiboss.com/card-match.
• ImprovementA rebuilt dashboard: retention is counted the way Anki's True Retention counts it, categories come from your deck's own tags and are compared with your own average, and your most-missed cards can become a lesson in one click.

Faster popups and a richer glossary

• ImprovementTerm-lookup popups open noticeably faster, with the most-looked-up explanations served straight from the add-on's local database.
• ImprovementThe popup now sanitizes explanation text before rendering, so formatting stays clean on every card layout.
