Terms of Service
Contents
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Medusa (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Medusa provides AI-powered medical education tools including: an Anki add-on for term explanations (medical terms, and MCAT terms for premed accounts), USMLE practice questions, an MCAT question bank with full-length practice exams, document-to-flashcard conversion, and performance analytics. It is built for medical students and for premeds preparing for the MCAT.
3. Accounts
- You must provide a valid email address to register.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must be at least 18 years old or have parental consent to use the Service.
- One account per person. Shared accounts may be terminated.
4. Subscriptions & Billing
- Free accounts have limited features as described on our pricing page.
- Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe.
- You may cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
- Practice blocks and full-length exams use credits, which are charged when the block or exam starts. If you cancel a full-length exam before its first section begins, the credits go back to your balance.
- If you are a consumer in Brazil, you have a right of withdrawal (direito de arrependimento): you may withdraw from your purchase of a plan or credits within 7 days of buying it and get a full refund (Consumer Defense Code, Law No. 8,078/1990, art. 49). To use this right, email team@medusaprep.com.
- Otherwise, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact team@medusaprep.com.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or billing
- Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise the Service
- Redistribute generated content commercially without permission
- Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download content
6. Content & Intellectual Property
- Documents you upload remain your property. We process them only to generate flashcards.
- Generated flashcards, explanations, practice questions and exams are for your personal educational use.
- The Medusa name, logo, and website design are our intellectual property.
- The Anki add-on is distributed under the terms of its license file.
7. Medical Disclaimer
Medusa is an educational tool, not a medical device. Content generated by AI may contain errors. Do not use Medusa content for clinical decision-making. Always verify medical information against authoritative sources (UpToDate, First Aid, Pathoma, etc.). We are not responsible for decisions made based on our content.
8. AI-Generated Content
Explanations, practice questions, flashcards, lessons and the tutor's answers are generated using AI from our AI providers, which the Privacy Policy names. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may occasionally be incorrect, outdated, or incomplete. Use it as a study aid alongside established resources, not as a sole source of truth.
9. The Tutor
- When you ask the tutor about a card in Anki, from the panel beside the card or the right-click menu, the add-on sends that card's text and pictures with your question, so the tutor sees what you see. Nothing is sent until you ask.
- Your questions, the tutor's answers and those cards are kept in your tutor history on medusaprep.com, where you can delete them. They are never used to train models. A session you haven't used for 14 days is deleted automatically. See the Privacy Policy.
- The tutor can suggest a change to a card, an action on your cards (suspending, unsuspending, burying, flagging, tagging, moving or rescheduling them, or a filtered deck) and new cards. Nothing in your collection changes until you press Apply, and Anki's Undo reverses it.
- When you ask the tutor how you're doing, the add-on works out your study numbers on your computer and sends them with that question. They aren't stored.
10. Availability & Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Medusa shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to exam outcomes.
12. Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard. Upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
